Traditional Mulled Wine Recipe

It’s true. Everyone’s making it; everyone’s talking about it and you want a piece of the pie! Well you've come to the right place. With only 15 minutes preparation time and 10 minutes cooking to taste, you’ll have your favorite Christmas bevvy to serve 6 in less than half an hour. Perfect!

  • 1 bottle red wine (your favorite will do!)
  • 60ml/2fl oz sloe or gin
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Grated nutmeg
  • 1 dried bay leaf
  • 1 orange, halved
  • Sprinle of mixed spice
  • 60g/2oz Demerara sugar

Preparation method

  1. Add the wine to a saucepan with the orange, sugar, bay leaf spices.

  2. Heat gently until the sugar has dissolved. Have a little taste to check if it’s sweet enough. If not, add some more sugar.

  3. Remove from the heat, stir in the sloe gin.

  4. Strain into heatproof glasses and serve immediately.

There you have it; your perfect and uncompromised serving of traditional festive mulled wine. Enjoy and have a very merry Christmas.
